Anna, Ireland
Hello everyone! Warm greetings to you from Cork, Ireland.
I am Anna, and I would describe my professional work as ‘for my students, of my students, by my students’. I constantly come up with new ideas for interesting lessons for my learners, something they can relate to; the majority of my workshops, articles or course materials is a reflection of the inspiration that flows to my heart every day. My motto: ‘Be Yourself, Be Unique, Dream Big’ encapsulates the mindset I hold throughout my personal and professional life while teaching, giving lectures, preparing for exams at university level (e.g. UCC Ireland or UK), at dyslexia workshops (from primary school level to adult learners), in private therapeutic sessions or online classes all over the world.
I take many roles: dedicated language teacher; empathetic tutor; teacher trainer; Neurolanguage Coach®; therapist certified in NLP (neurolinguistic programming); cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) or the therapeutic use of mindfulness; specialist in learning difficulties; lecturer; project manager; course creator; and speaker. I have five university degrees, including a Master’s in Applied Linguistics (English Studies) and a Master’s in Management and Marketing with specialisations in law, business English, medical device science and neurodiversity, all topped up with diplomas, certificates and hands-on experience – these are my unbeatable assets.
My approaches include: holistic education, therapeutic teaching and collaborative learning. I follow this simple maxim: if teachers are to prepare learners for life and equip them with knowledge of great value, lessons should be about discovering one’s potential, shaping one’s character, building resilience and getting to know yourself in social situations. Every learner is different, therefore, what I can do is offer various strategies, tools and techniques aimed at solving problems. When students feel really good, they feel safe, accepted, welcome and appreciated. In my class, I make learners hungry for knowledge, challenging them at every opportunity; at the same time, I offer gentle support and guidance. We identify triggers, recognise and remove mental blocks or cognitive distortions. Truly transformative!
A vast array of techniques, brain-friendly or multisensory approaches enables me to bring out the best from each student. I run workshops ‘Train Your Brain’ and ‘The Smart Club’ where children can discover their potential, show creativity and boost their confidence and self-esteem. Once you discover your purpose in life as an educator, which in my case is turning challenges into opportunities, teaching becomes a mission.
