Know your why!
If there is one question that has driven our teaching and our development over the years it is: Why do we do the things we do? This might seem like a simple question but if we’re completely honest, for many years we had absolutely no idea. We did what we did because it was what one did. We monitored because you’re supposed to. We set comprehension checking tasks after a reading because that is what you do after a reading. We put students in pairs because . . . well, what else would you do? B followed A . . .
