Annual waypoints

Every year, well-known publishers share with their readership lexis able to convey the trends of a 12-month cycle. Whether we like them or not, words of the year (WOTY) are typically new terms which emerge within a given linguistic and cultural environment, meaning their exclusion from learning can prevent learners from engaging meaningfully with current events and parlance altogether.
