What your students’ brains actually want
We know vocabulary is essential for language learning. Yet, students can write a word twenty times in their notebooks and still not remember it a week later. So what’s the problem?
The issue may not be about effort or motivation. It could be how we understand memory, attention and emotion. We need to ensure our vocabulary activities work with the brain instead of against it.
Neurodidactics, applying findings from neuroscience to classroom practices, gives teachers a useful perspective. It doesn’t require a neuroscience degree or expensive tools. It just needs a change in how we think about what helps words stick.
