Having been discouraged from entering teaching by an over-zealous school careers adviser, Rob spent a couple of decades in the corporate world in his home country New Zealand. But the teaching bug persisted and in response to an ad ‘Teach English Overseas’, Rob took a diploma course and was soon winging his way to Dalian in NE China. Overall Rob spent nearly four years teaching and ended up writing a book The Cat Thief of Gaizhou about his teaching and cultural experiences.
