In a small extracurricular English class, Cristina, aged seven, got up from her place, took her books and bag and went to sit next to Natalia.
‘I’m going to work with Natalia.’ she said.
There were always lots of spare chairs and we tended to operate on a sit-where-you-want, move-about-as-you-like basis.
Cristina’s departure left a gap in her previous row with Herminia on one side of said gap, sitting on the end, and Virginia on the other. Herminia switched seats into the vacant spot, so . . .
